Coffee Top Tips

We are often asked what is the best way to store coffee

  • We always recommend that coffee beans are stored out of direct sunlight...an airtight container will help to retain the natural oils within the beans.
  • Coffee beans can be kept in the freezer, again in an airtight container and can be used straight away
  • Coffees bought from us are supplied in a heat-sealed pack and should be used within a year of purchase, however once the pack has been opened it is best used within 3 weeks to capture the full flavour and aroma.
  • We always supply freshly roasted and ground coffees...because we do everything "in-house" we know when we grind and pack our beans!

Add salt to your coffee!

  • If you don't take sugar, do have the tiniest pinch of salt!
  • Yes, salt! It will make your coffee smooth and bring out the flavour of the coffee! Lovely.

Count to 30 before making coffee!

  • Count to 30 after the kettle has boiled before you pour water on your coffee.
  • Boiling water burns coffee and can make it bitter!

A spoonful of coffee!

  • 1 rounded dessertspoon of coffee per mug of water makes the perfect pot.

The darker the coffee bean...

  • Doesn't necessarily mean that the coffee has a high caffeine content!  Highly roasted beans may have a stronger taste but often have a lower caffeine content!
  • Try a light roast bean for an exquisite espresso coffee...you might be surprised!
